The German Post has issued a stamp dedicated to the 2011 Alpine World Ski Championship 2011. It will take place for the second time after 1978 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. The championship will take place between 7 and 20 February 2011 and will host a large number of German athletes ranked among the best in the world.
The slogan of the championship "Festival in the Snow" expresses that the World Cup will be more than just a sporting event. The home of composer Richard Strauss and the birthplace of poet Michael Ende, Garmisch-Partenkirchen will offer the visitors an extensive and ambitious cultural program besides of course the emphasis put on sports events.
