Austria post will issue a postage stamp to commemorate the 50 Years of foundation of OPEC, whose headquarters are located at Vienna.
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC, is an international organization founded in Baghdad exactly 50 years ago in September 1960. Since 1965, the organization’s headquarters have been in Vienna. The original members were Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Venezuela; they were later joined by seven further countries (Libya, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Angola, Algeria and Nigeria). In addition, Ecuador was a member from 1973 to 1992 and Gabon from 1975 to 1992.
