Children – Helen Zmatlikova

CZ post issued the occasional stamp of the issue of “Children – Helen Zmatlíková recalling the creation of one of the mostillustrator Children’s Books – Helen Zmatlíková. The postage stamp with a nominal value of CZK 10 is illustrated book of pixie Pitrýsek Aškenazyho Louis: In Search of plum aromas. On the coupon are given blackberries, which are illustrations in the book by Josef Kolar: The Diary Modroo?ka cat.

Helen was born in 1923 in Prague. She learned a seamstress, but the more she enjoyed drawing. During the war she worked in art studio, sketching and proposed Melantrich handbags.

In addition, designed and drew different jokes in newspapers and magazines. It began as an illustrator of books for adults, but fairly soon switched to illustration for children. Among her most famous book that came with us, as children from the Six Bullerby, Karkulín from the roof or Martínková reader.

We all certainly remember the fairy tale Little House on the three kittens, who also illustrated. Books with her illustrations have been translated into many languages and published in dozens of countries. Thanks to its unique creation has become one of the most popular female illustrator of all. She died on 4th dubna 2005. April 2005.
