MaltaPost will be issuing a set of two stamps and a Miniature sheet commemorating the forthcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup. The set will be issued on the day of the opening match of the tournament on the 11th of June 2010. The FIFA World Cup will take place between the 11th of June and the 11th of July 2010 and will be hosted in South Africa.
The stamps and the Miniature sheet have been designed by a local artist Frank Azzopardi. The sheet depicts a spiral of the flags of nations where the competition was hosted in recent years on the ˆ0.63 stamp and ending with the South African flag on the ˆ2.50 stamp depicting Zakumi, the tournament's mascot.
