Establishment of Islamia High School, Quetta. (2005-8)

Islamia High School Quetta is one of the oldest and the most prestigious Schools of Balochistan. It was established on 15th May, 1910 AD The aim was to provide a separate Muslim School for the Muslim Youth to secure the entity of those Muslim Students who were reluctant to their enrolment in the non Muslim Educational Institutions. The Anjuman-e-lslamia provided full financial Assistance to the School. Due to the efforts of Anjuman-e-lslamia the number of Muslim Students increased to 640 up to April 1933.
The devastating earthquake of 1935 destroyed the school completely. However it was restored out of the old bricks from the rubble. It is a matter of great pride for the school that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah visited this school in 1942. The exaltation of the great Quaid can be quoted thus:
“I am very happy to visit this Junior Ali Garh. I am pretty sanguine that this institution would contribute towards the establishment of a new nation for the Muslim in future”.
At present the school has other branches like Islamia Girls College, Islamia Girls School and the Model School, which are working under the auspices of the main school. About 6000 students are studying in these institutions.
All branches of Islamia High School are having audiovisual facilities for teaching. In nutshell Islamia High School, which started just as an embryo stands today as one of the best institution of Balochistan.
Islamia High School and its sister branches are working now keeping the following ideals in the mind:-
• Providing educational facilities to all classes of society without any discrimination of race or creed.
• Providing a wider scope for the educational uplift in the country.
• Preparing a crop of educated men to meet the challenges of the modern world.
To commemorate the establishment of Islamia High School Quetta, Pakistan Post is issuing a commemorative postage stamp of Rs. 5/- denomination on May 25, 2005.
