Faith, Unity & Discipline\' was the motto given to us by the Father of the Nation. Pakistan has completed fifty one years of its independence. During this period the nation has undergone numerous crises, at times challenging its very existence. This included active aggression from a powerful neighbour, internal dissentions over petty issues as well as economic crises. But the nation is determined to squarely face all these challenges and exist as a progressive, proud and united nation.
To instill a fresh breath into the life of this vibrant nation composed of many cultures the youth wing of Pakistan Muslim League arranged country wise rallies on 14-8-1998 this year. On September 6, a human chain was formed to show the determination of the nation to unitedly en-counter all odds.
The \"National Flag March\" is a follow up of the two earlier events, The historic march by the youth of the nation started on 19-11-1998, spear-headed by the Pakistan Muslim League Youth Wing from Jamrud in Khyber Agency. The route taken was Peshawar, Abbottabad, Muzaffarabad, Murree, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Karachi, Larkana, Quetta, to mention only a few of the important towns. This rally covering a distance of 350 kilometers and passing through fifty districts of the country terminated at Chaghi in Balochistan, a symbolic termination point of the long march towards progress, prosperity and self reliance. The absolutely barren mountains of Chaghi witnessed earlier this year the first-ever detonation of the nuclear devises exploded by the zealous Pakistani scientists all by their own.
People from all walks of life, the youth, political leaders, scholars, journalists, lawyers, scientists, sportsman, teachers, retired army officers, industrial workers, TV/Film stars, farmers and students, enthusiastically participated in this show of unity.
To celebrate the occasion Pakistan Post Office is issuing a commemorative postage stamp of Rs. 2 denomination on December 16, 1998, depicting the route taken by the march on the country\'s map with symbolic representation of youth carrying the national flag and wearing different regional costumes.
