Grand Duke Henri is the sixth sovereign of the dynasty since the accession of Adolphe of Nassau.
His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri, eldest son of Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte of Luxembourg, was born on 16 April 1955 at Betzdorf Castle (Luxembourg).
The Grand Duke ensures the patronage of numerous active associations in cultural, sporting, scientific and civic domains. He assumes the High Patronage of Civil Defense. He is also an active member of the Mentor Foundation created under the patronage of the World Health Organization. The goal of this foundation is to prevent the use of drugs by adolescents.
Being interested in the protection of nature, the Grand Duke is President of the Galapagos Darwin Trust Luxembourg and is on the Presidency Council of the Charles Darwin Foundation for the Galapagos Islands. The Grand Duke has been part of the International Olympic Committee since the February 1998 session that was held in Nagano, Japan.
