Pakistan Post Office, at last issued a set of postage stamps depicting wildlife. The issue was not commemorating “wildlife” but to familiarize the people about the sea resources of the country. A series is however, planned to highlight the danger of some species of flora and fauna vanishing rapidly from the country.
The set of four stamps issued on September 24, 1973, projects FISHES, more commonly found in Pakistan.. Face values names of the fishes and the background colours of the stamps are as the following:
10p. Wallago Attu, (turquoise green).
20p. Labeo Rohita, (light olive).
60p. Tilapia Mossambica, (mauve).
Re. l, Catla Catla, (bluish violet).
Name of the country in two languages is printed in reverse at top, other inscriptions are in black, denomination is inscribed in two lines with ‘paisa’ above the denominator, at bottom left corner. Rupee value denomination is in one line. Names of the fish are given at bottom except on l0p, which is sideways.
