The book is aimed at new collectors who have an interest in Ethiopian stamps and provides very useful information on all aspects of Ethiopian philately: from the introduction of a postal service in Addis Ababa in 1895, to the rise to power of Ras Tafari, his exile and the 1942 restoration of Haile Selassie.
The book also examines stamp issues of the revolutionary period and those of the 1990s and the new millennium.
Specific chapters deal with the Lion of Judah, early mail, the rise of Tafari, the post-war years, thematic stamps of Ethiopia, Ethiopian stamp designers, philatelic literature and a specialized approach to collecting Ethiopian stamps and postal history.
The 48-page book is profusely illustrated in color and is being sold in Europe and USA by specialised booksellers.
The author of "An Introduction to the Stamps of Ethiopia, from the Queen of Sheba to the Third Millennium" is BVI Philatelic Society president Dr. Giorgio Migliavacca.
