International Medical Congress '93 of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan - 10-14 December, 1993

This stamp commemorates "CPSP Congress 93” which will be the largest international medical conference ever held in Pakistan. The College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan was established in 1962 to provide post-graduate studies within the country, thus obviating the need for our doctors to go to England for higher medical qualifications. Over the last 30 years the College has become a “Centre of Excellence” providing opportunities to Pakistani doctors to improve their knowledge and skills in various specialities, as the College deals with twenty seven specialities for fellowship examination and hold advance courses and organizes workshops. The number of doctors who have qualified in F.C.P.S. examinations from this College now exceeds 4500. This qualification is recognized by the Royal Colleges, with whom examiners are exchanged, on reciprocal basis. Joint Council Meetings have been held with Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh in 1990 and with Royal College of Surgeons, London in 1991. A third International Conference, \"CPSP Congress\" is being held at CPSP premises from 10th to14th December 1993 in collaboration with Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons and International College of Surgeons (Pakistan Chapter) and the Congress theme is \"Health Care Challenges in the 21st Century\".
The collaboration with Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons has been achieved to inculcate a feeling of brotherhood and friendship with our erstwhile countrymen and colleagues. The International College of Surgeons, which has its headquarters in the U.S.A., is being represented by its Corporate Secretary from Brazil.
The Congress aims at making the results of latest research and advances in the developed countries in the fields of medicine and surgery available to the large number of doctors from Pakistan and Bangladesh attending the Congress. Over 1000 doctors from Pakistan and about 200 from Bangladesh are expected to attend the Congress. The guest faculty includes 50 world renowned specialists from 15 countries of world, including North & South America, Europe, Middle East, Far East, China and Australia.
It is hoped that this Congress will enable our doctors to update their knowledge and meet the health care challenges of the 21st century to serve their patients better.
