Trees are the bounty of nature—they provide timber, firewood and fruit, beautify the landscape and provide wildlife habitat, ameliorate the environment and mitigate the effects of hot and cold winds, control floods and check soil erosion.

Forest conservation and increased tree planting have great importance for our national economy. Government have, therefore, launched a massive programme of tree plantation throughout the country. In order to encourage people to plant trees, technical advice and planting stock of all categories are provided through a net work of forest nurseries. One can choose different varieties for ornamental planting, for shade, flowers, fragrance, or from utility point of view in different sizes and forms like trees, shrubs etc. Large quantities can be delivered at site also.As part of campaign to motivate people to plant more trees Pakistan Post Office has issued a special stamp of 20 Paisa on 9th August, 1977.
