The literature works of Reuter impress the readers all over the world. His books have been translated into many European languages, even in Japanese, and the international readers discover his literature genius again and again.
The novel "Ut mine Stromtid" ("From my Farming Days") is by far the greatest of Reuter's writings. The men and women he describes are the men and women he knew in the villages and farmhouses of Mecklenburg, and the circumstances in which he places them are the circumstances by which they were surrounded in their actual rural life.
Because of his commitment to freedom, justice and the unity of Germany, Fritz Reuter was not only a major poet, but also one of the great personalities of the German democratic history.
