NCSW observes the 16 Days of
Activism every year, an international campaign was launched in 1991 against
gender-based violence. It starts from the International Day for Elimination of
Violence Against Women on the 25th of November up until Human Rights Day on
December 10th. The Campaign's main objective is to raise awareness of the
violence and abuse faced by women and create pathways of change to rid society
of this plight. At the extremity of violence against women lies femicide: the
murder of a woman because of their gender. One of the key events organized by
the NCSW this year, in collaboration with the PNCA, was the Poster Competition
in which students from all over Islamabad created artwork revolving around this
year's theme of 16 Days of Activism. This stamp has been designed to symbolize
breaking the chains of the violence against women which is entrenched within
society. The caption, which is written in Urdu states: 'End Violence Against
Women Now!'. Violence against women has taken the lives of a large number of
women and girls, not just within Pakistan but across the world. Speaking up.
spreading awareness and breaking barriers are essential to moving towards a
society that is peaceful and tolerant.
On the "Occasions of International Women's Day", Pakistan Post is issuing a Commemorative Postage Stamp of Rs.20/- denomination on 8th March, 2023.
