First Class Way To Save Endangered Animals

The Royal Mail has issued a set of stamps, miniature sheet and prestige stamp book to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of WWF. Forests are the Post Europ theme for 2011 so the WWF Miniature Sheet depicts the Amazon Rainforest where the WWF are involved in a number of projects to protect and conserve the forest and its plants and animals. The 1st Class stamp bears the Post Europ logo in addition to the WWF logo.

The stamps show the African Elephant, Siberian Tiger, Mountain Gorilla, Polar Bear, Amur Leopard, African Wild Dog, Golden Lion Tamarin, Iberian Lynx, Red Panda and Black Rhinoceros.

David Nussbaum of WWF-UK said: "The stamps raise awareness of the global conservation challenges we continue to tackle head on, such as deforestation, climate change, and reducing humanity's footprint on the natural world. Behind every stamp is a story of hope and the organisation's determination to build a future where people and nature thrive."

Owners of iPhones will also be able to scan the stamps to view exclusive WWF endangered species video footage.
