Works by the painter Erzsebet Udvardi have once again been used for the Christmas stamps this year, as in 2002, 2004 and 2006. The original of the painting now shown, entitled Three Kings, is the altarpiece of the chapel in the Prohaszka Ottokar Ursulite Public Education Centre in Gyor. In the designs details of the painting have been graphically reworked. The stamps show the main subject of the work, the Virgin and Child, and, symbolising the joy of the birth of Jesus, angels making music from the top right of the painting.
The designs based on the original work were made using a special printing technique that allows the application of gold and silver foil. The first day cover for the set features a reproduction of the whole painting.
